Every living thing grows, and so do you. You were once a tiny baby who could not walk or talk. You drank only milk, slept most of the day, and cried when you were hungry. Slowly you learned to sit, crawl, stand, walk, and run. You learned to speak words, then sentences. You grew taller, your feet grew bigger, and your baby clothes stopped fitting.
Growing up happens in stages. A baby becomes a toddler, then a child like you, then a teenager, then an adult, and finally an old person. As we grow, our body changes and we learn new skills. A child of seven can read, write, ride a bicycle, and help at home — things a baby cannot do. Your grandparents were once children too, and your parents were once babies!
Example: Ask your parents to show you a photo of yourself as a baby, then look in the mirror. Compare your size, your hair, and your teeth. How much have you grown?
