We have two ears, one on each side of our head. Ears help us hear sounds. This is called the sense of hearing.
Some sounds are loud, like a drum or a car horn. Some sounds are soft, like a whisper or a cat purring. Very loud sounds can hurt our ears, so we cover them.
Example: Sit still and listen. Can you hear a bird? A fan? Someone talking? Your ears catch all these sounds, even when your eyes are closed.
