Air is everywhere around us — in the room, outside, even inside an empty bottle. We cannot see air, but we can feel it when it moves as wind. Air has no colour and no smell.
All living things need air. We breathe in air through our nose. Air fills balloons, tyres, and footballs. Moving air, or wind, flies kites, turns windmills, dries clothes, and pushes sailing boats. Birds fly through the air. Plants also need air. Fresh, clean air keeps us healthy, so we open windows and plant trees.
Example: Wave a piece of paper near your face — you feel the air move. Blow into a balloon — the air makes it big. Put an empty bottle in water upside down — bubbles come out. That was air inside!
